Sometimes we can all forget to slow down. Life gets in the way and our busy schedules take over. If there’s one place that we can recommend for our guests to really take a moment to pause and find some peace and relaxation it’s at a yoga class with Jo at The Humble Warrior.
We’re just a short distance from the coast and starting the day with some yoga on the beach is one of our most favourite things. We know many of our guests are keen yogis as you arrive with you mats packed and ready and of course doing your own yoga practice in our landscape at Swallowtail Hill is special, but if you fancy joining a local class while you’re here during the next few weeks there’s a daily 8am class at Camber Sands or a 10.30am class on the beach at Rye Harbour nature reserve. These classes are held as long as the sun is shining, all you need to bring is a yoga mat, suitable clothing and an open mind and heart. You’ll start your class with a yoga flow taking in the sounds of the sea, followed by breathwork and a seated meditation where you’ll leave behind any stressful thoughts. This is a truly unique way to start your day and we guarantee no matter what your experience with yoga, you’ll leave feeling with a sense of calm and restoration. You can book a beach yoga session here.
Or if the beach isn’t for you, there’s a wonderful Yin Yang yoga class every Tuesday evening held at the Elysian Centre in Rye. These classes are suitable for beginners and anyone needing to destress. Each class has a theme and starts with a calming chakra meditation. Then we move into a restorative Yin yoga stretches – holding poses for longer periods to massage the joins, organs and connective tissues in the body, resulting in a profound calming of the mind and nervous system. The Yin part of the lesson is followed by a breathing exercise specific to the theme of the class, and then we move into Yang yoga flow to mindfully activate and stretch the muscles before relaxing back into a meditative Savasana. All yoga equipment is provided and you can book a Yin Yang class.
The team from Swallowtail Hill might see you there too – it’s our favourite escape and keeps us nicely grounded in the middle of our busiest season!
