Another pub review for you this month! The White Hart is a lovely family run pub in the village of Newenden around three miles from Swallowtail Hill.
It’s a favourite of ours – particularly in the summer months as it has a large garden with fabulous views across the surrounding countryside and you’ll often see the local steam trains puffing on by! The garden has an outdoor bar and plenty tables to enjoy a meal or a drink al fresco. If you’re going with the family, there’s a children’s play area too to keep them amused while you relax.
You can opt to dine outdoors even when the weather isn’t on your side – as they have amazing ‘stables’ for covered outdoor dining which are very popular. Each is named after a famous racehorse! The cosy booths have lights and heaters and blankets too for chilly evenings!
The menu has something to suit everyone – from pub favourites like fish and chips, steaks, and burgers and of course on Sundays there are delicious traditional roast dinners available. But our particular favourites are the homemade, hand rolled pizzas! There’s a really good children’s menu for little ones as well.
If you’re booked to stay with us for the weekend of the 30th-31st July then your visit will coincide with the pub’s Beer and Music festival which boasts live music, guest ales, ciders and delicious food – so do pop by to enjoy it. It’s free to attend, but there will be a raffle to raise as much money as possible for two very important charities – Mind, and St Michael’s Hospice. Check out their website for more!
