The S’Lowdown On: The Horse & Cart

If there’s one thing that us Brits love it’s a good old country pub!  

We’ve got another fantastic local recommendation for those visiting us, and that’s the Horse & Cart Inn in Peasmarsh.

Situated three miles from Rye, The Horse & Cart Inn is a Grade II listed pub.  Inside you’ll find spacious leather sofas with a bright and airy atmosphere. They also have a cute and cosy garden where they often feature live music – perfect for enjoying a glass of wine on a spring or summer evening. 

Of course we must tell you about the menu itself, which is regularly changing throughout the seasons. The majority of their suppliers are local, so you can count on there being some delicious homemade dishes!  For a light bite out in the garden, you might be eyeing up the pan fried garlic prawns or fried halloumi bites.  There’s also a fabulous sharing board with lots of goodies like cheeses, cured meats, sundried tomatoes, olives and more.

If you’re more of a pub grub type of person, then they’ve also got you covered with homemade pies, pulled pork burgers and cod & chips also on the menu.  Let’s also not forget their homemade sourdough pizzas and weekly Sunday roast which also has a veggie & vegan option!

The Horse & Cart is open daily, from 3pm – 11pm on Mondays, 11am – 11pm Tuesday – Saturday and 11am – 6pm on Sundays.
