One of our favourite haunts is the Globe Inn Marsh. Tucked away on the Military Canal Road just outside Rye, it’s a traditional weatherboard pub where you’ll enjoy a warm welcome and seriously good grub!

The Globe shares many of the values we hold dear at Swallowtail Hill. First – all of their food is locally sourced. They champion local producers, ensuring that all of the food they cook is humanely reared and traceable ‘down to the boat, farm, field or flock’.

The menu has something for everyone – right now choices include Romney Marsh double lamb chop with minted potatoes, greens and salsa verde; or the daily south coast catch with roasted new potatoes and creamed leeks; or there’s the spinach and beetroot burger with aioli, naked red cabbage slaw, pretzel bun and thrice cooked chips! We held the Swallowtail Hill Christmas lunch at the Globe this year and our gang of 14 includes vegetarians and vegans and everyone enjoyed it – which I think is pretty impressive (usually I feel that vegans get short changed with menu choices!). The local vibe extends to the wine list and the cider and beer menu – showcasing many of the wonderful producers we have in this region.

It’s a super cosy place with a roaring fire in winter and a cute little terrace in the summer.

You can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Globe – and although they do accept walk-ins, 60% of tables are bookable so they can consciously and safely manage space in the current climate. Take a look at the menu and get planning for your trip!
