The S’Lowdown On Simply Rye

With thoughts turning to Christmas and gift giving, this month we thought we’d feature Simply Rye. It’s hands down our most favourite emporium. And even if you don’t have a visit to the town planned soon – you can peruse their online shop to your heart’s content instead.
This gorgeous homewares and gift shop is in the heart of Rye and it truly is a family affair – first established in 2019 by husband and wife team Ian and Fran, daughter Vickie joined in early 2020. The store stocks everything from homewares and clothing to accessories and gifts. We often go in to select a gift for someone and come away with something for ourselves too – so tempting is the choice!
And that’s exactly the vibe that Vickie says they set out to achieve; “We always say we only stock products that we would love to give or receive ourselves! We’re really keen to make shopping for gifts as enjoyable and as easy as possible so we’re always happy to advise, gift wrap and even hand deliver items locally! We have a website as well as our physical shop and offer delivery all over the UK.
“Simply Rye has gradually grown more and more and now our shop is bursting with all sorts of gifts, whether you want to treat yourself or a loved one. We’re so grateful for all our wonderful customers and feel very lucky to live and work in such a beautiful place full of independent high street shops and businesses!
“We’ve got lots of gift ideas already in store with more coming in the lead up to Christmas plus lots of products to help keep you warm as the weather changes!”

Thoughts on a Slow Start to the New Year
Swallowtail Hill regulars will know that we’re all about tapping into life lived more slowly. We call it the S’Lowdown as it’s the special Swallowtail Hill flavour of taking things at a pace that doesn’t leave us frazzled and disconnected.
So I regularly disappear from socials – because if I’m entirely honest – being a slave to the scroll doesn’t really match up to our values and it’s all too easy to get sucked back in which definitely has an effect on my mood.
Log Off and Look Up: Marketing Nature
This summer has been an eye opener. Not least because it’s been the most challenging one to date for our 14 year old business, but because it has made me question how we communicate the authentic appeal of Swallowtail Hill.
