Beautiful Bodiam Boating Station is a fantastic place to enjoy a sunny afternoon. You might guess from the name that there are plentiful boating options to choose from at this spot on the river! From rowing, kayaking – single or tandem, SUPing and canoeing there is something for everyone to hire for the day!
If relaxing and staying dry is more your thing, then there are options for you too! You can hire a row boat and explore the river at your leisure. If that still sounds like hard work and you’d rather sit back and watch the river bank as you sail by then why not jump aboard one of their sunset river cruises which run every Saturday during the summer months. It’s the perfect way to enjoy nature while cruising along the River Rother. It stretches for 12 miles and you’ll be aboard the ex-Royal Navy Lifeboat, M.V.Dannie Lee! You might be lucky to spot a heron or a kingfisher – so make sure to pack your binoculars for those of you keen to find wildlife! The cruises set sail for 2 hours from 5-7pm and cost just £20pp (£10 for under 14s). What a fantastic way to end a day!
Feel free to bring a picnic along with you for the journey or perhaps pre-order something from Lime Wharf Café, their own on-site foodie spot.
Unless visiting the castle, the folks at the boating station recommend cruising downstream towards Rye, which benefits from tranquillity & stunning views of the countryside.
