The Local S’Lowdown: Vine & Country Tours

Our little corner of the country has become synonymous with award winning wine and food producers in recent years and we love the fact that our guests are well placed to explore all of this while staying at Swallowtail Hill.

Very often guests book to stay with us and spend their days visiting different vineyards in the region and we’re always delighted to introduce them to Vine and Country Tours as the perfect way to explore English viticulture. 

Vine and Country Tours have created an immersive wine tourism experience like no other.  Jamie and Steph – the brains behind the business – are of course English wine enthusiasts and local food lovers and their passion is to share their love and knowledge of English wines and the gastronomy of the region.  They curate wine and food tours individually tailored for you – what could be better? You get to spend the day discovering The Wine Garden Of England, exploring some of the top vineyards, cider makers or brewers – taste award winning wines and then enjoy your very own chef’s table experience enjoying a lunch of regional delicacies complete with wine pairings among the vines!

Tours are exclusively private experiences and run all year round for a minimum of six guests (although smaller groups can be hosted for a surcharge). Experiences can be a full or half day to suit and include visits to three vineyards/producers with tours and tutored tastings, a private lunch and chef’s table experience including wine pairings, and collection from and drop off back to your accommodation. Sounds like all of the ingredients for a perfect day to us! 

New for this year they are also offering a series of ticketed events. Farm Feasts will be held at Charles Palmer Vineyard twice a month, offering guests the chance to enjoy a feast served straight from a wood fired kitchen. Their unique menus will serve the best from the harvest, from the fields, hedgerow and sea all served up in glorious setting of an English vineyard farm.
