Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas… At Swallowtail Hill!
‘Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la la, la la la la! If you’re wondering how to spend Christmas in a different way this year, then a trip to Swallowtail Hill might be just what you’re looking for. It might be that you fancy a complete escape from all that the Christmas season usually involves, or maybe it’s just the thought of some cosy quiet time that appeals, or you simply don’t celebrate Christmas! Three of our special places stay open throughout the year and Christmas and New Year in a cabin might be the experience you didn’t know you needed!
Your festive break will certainly involve:
• Cosying up inside with your woodburner crackling away
• Bundling up in warm clothes and taking a winter walk around the farm
• Sitting round the campfire with time to talk
• The sounds of nature all around you as you relax
• Hanging your stocking on a real tree!
Add to that a mix of:
• Board games
• A good book or two
• Some campfire cooking
• Hot drinks and maybe marshmallows too
• And you have all the ingredients of a winter warming stay – cabin style.
One of the best things about the farm at Christmas is the chance to explore on a frosty winter’s day. While we can keep our fingers crossed for a white Christmas, even the lightest dusting of frost makes Swallowtail Hill look magical. Make sure to pack your cosy winter essentials for some winter walks – and you’ll need to keep your eyes peeled for some of the wildlife on the farm too. We have friendly little robins who are regular visitors and deer are often seen walking through the woods.
Exploring the great outdoors is one of the best parts about glamping, but you might just prefer the reward of treating yourself to a delicious hot chocolate whilst sat around the fire afterwards! All of our accommodations have their own wood burner to keep you lovely and toasty. Cosy up with your favourite tipple, play some board games and enjoy each other’s company.
We love to make your accommodation feel celebratory in a style that befits our love of nature – so fresh greenery will fill your cabin with the scent of winter and twinkly lights will add to the cosy atmosphere.
What would Christmas be without some delicious food and drink? While we don’t offer our full food and drink menu over Christmas and New Year you can pre order some special treats to be ready for you on arrival. Why not cook a Christmas feast on your campfire – throw out the Christmas Dinner rulebook and get creative!
Spending Christmas at Swallowtail Hill is a great way to get into the festive spirit in a different way. Enjoy your very own private winter wonderland surrounded by nature. If you’re tempted, we still have availability at both Long View and Woodcutter’s Cottage from Christmas Eve through to Boxing Day. Woodcutter’s is also available for a New Year’s break for those looking for a quiet break away from parties and without the queues for taxis home.
But if you can’t bear to spend the festive away from home, yet still fancy a little pre-Christmas break, get in touch with us as we still have availability at all three of our luxury spaces throughout December – come and enjoy the peace and quiet and maybe venture into Rye for some Christmas Shopping- small town style!
