Any Old Iron

I got my first 60^th birthday present today. The Paine boys were so exuberant about it they rang up at 9am to make sure I came to the woodyard to collect it. In a blue rubble sack, tied with red ribbon, was a large lump of iron. Jubilation and laughter all round.

It’s a drive wheel for a Fordson Super Major! Stick it on the side with a shaft inserted into a plate in the engine and it turns an enormous belt. If you have a machine to attach to it that is belt driven that is. I haven’t, but no matter, it gives me reason to get one. John Paine thinks there might be a seed winnower around somewhere. Now that would be something. We could winnow and separate and pack wild flower seeds and sell them for a fortune!
