We regularly offer guests the opportunity to join in with the animal feeding. This is mainly (although not exclusively) popular with our younger visitors who earn their right to become a Swallowtail Hill Junior Farmer. No need to book – just turn up at the farm gate at the time marked on the blackboard and you can join in – free of charge.
For some, a visit to Swallowtail Hill is all about the peace and quiet – the chance to get away from it all and live life at a slower pace for a while.
But others like to be a little more active.
From time to time we have additional activities on offer – keep an eye on our news page to see what else might be going on during your visit.
And of course you’re welcome to wander around the farm and explore the landscape around you – if you fancy venturing further afield we can provide you with maps of the local area and point you in the right direction!
It’s a roomy four person space done out with the same care and attention as the Swallowtail Hill Farm bell tents, but looking like a higgledy-piggledy cottage on wheels.
Woodcutter’s is straight out of Little Red Riding Hood. A cottage-on-wheels made of wood and surrounded by wood. It’s another one-off, custom made by local carpenters and woodsmen from locally sourced timber. You will find it in a secluded dell at the end of The Dean Wood, an eight acre chestnut and oak coppiced woodland surrounded by hornbeam, holly, hazel, oak and chestnut hedgelines.
Wild Woodland Club is a fantastic outdoor club for kids aged 6-11 years. On the last Saturday of every month – no matter what the weather is doing – we’ll be found at our camp in the woods making things, learning woodland crafts, cooking on campfires, building dens, exploring and discovering the natural world around us, playing games and having lots of fun.
The club runs from 10am until 1pm on the last Saturday of evening month. Sessions cost £10 per child.
During school holidays we run additional full day sessions which usually run from 10am until 3pm and cost £20.
Booking is essential as places are limited.
