Most of our teaching takes place outside, but we do have a classroom / visitor centre in our barn.  It can accommodate up to 25 students and staff.

The barnyard is also home to two compost loos and mobile hand-washing facilities.

There is a picnic area.

The site has parking for cars and minibuses.

Please note the farm is located on a narrow country lane which isn’t suitable for coaches.

Disabled Access:

We welcome everyone at Swallowtail Hill and will always do our very best to accommodate everyone but we do need to point out that our landscape isn’t the easiest for those with special access needs.

Please note that our classroom is on the first floor and is accessed via an external staircase.  There is an electric stairclimber/wheelchair carrier available.

As you have discovered – our 40 acre farm is run purely for conservation – nature takes priority here so you won’t find a network of concrete paths and ramps.  All of our footpaths are grassland which means they are uneven and there can be mud.  The landscape is also very hilly.  We do have a set of mobile ramps that can be used to help where needed.

The parking area is hard-stand but not tarmacked.
