The Woodcutter’s cottage is similar to the Meadow Keeper’s cottage but a woodier version with woody features!

Woodcutters - new Woodcutter’s is straight out of Little Red Riding Hood. A cottage-on-wheels made of wood and surrounded by wood. It’s another one-off, custom made by local carpenters and woodsmen from locally sourced timber. You will find it in a secluded dell at the end of The Dean Wood, an eight acre chestnut and oak coppiced woodland surrounded by hornbeam, holly, hazel, oak and chestnut hedgelines.

Clad in rough cut timber planking, and roofed with chestnut shingles, it is a single space that has a double bed, two benches that become single bunks at night, a dining table, an indoor cooking area with gas hob and sink, and a log burner.

All bedding, towels, cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery are provided along with a cooler box for your food and drink. We will also provide rechargeable lanterns for your use. Please note that the cottage is totally off-grid – there is no electricity supply.

Just outside is your own firepit equipped with BonFire cooking kit, and an outdoor dining area.

Woodcutter’s Cottage is perfectly situated for wildlife watching, from birds and squirrels during the day to foxes and badgers at night.

There is an outside tap connected to mains drinking water.

Just to the side of the cottage is your own Heath Robinson looking (but extremely effective) log fired shower which we will teach you how to light once you’re here.

And at a discreet distance is your very own compost loo!

Our camping breaks are self-catering but we do provide a welcome pack of groceries to get you started.

We also offer guests the chance to purchase Breakfast Boxes and BBQ boxes to make self-catering easier.   All our grocery boxes contain locally sourced produce, organic where possible.

We also have a fabulous local chef who offers a campsite catering service for our guests – homecooked meals delivered ready for reheating on your campfire.  Orders must be placed 24 hours’ in advance.

Picnic lunches, afternoon teas, and special suppers are also available at an extra cost.

And if that doesn’t suit we aren’t too far from the local shop.
